Here are some easy-to-follow recommendations on HOW TO CARE for your Face Mask Vintage face mask. I find any combination of the cleaning methods below will work well to keep the fabric of your reusable face mask sanitized and looking fresh.

*All FMV fabrics are washed and pre-shrunk before sewing to avoid any warping.

STEP 1: REMOVE THE PIPE CLEANER NOSE FITTING.

If you have trouble pulling it out with your fingers, you can easily grab the pipe cleaner with tweezers.

STEP 2: PRE-TREAT ANY STAINS ON YOUR FACE MASK.

Using a stain remover like Shout, Whip-It and/or Biz (my favorite trio used together) will remove most makeup and food stains.

STEP 3: WASH THE FACE MASK. Hand-wash OR in mesh laundry bag, machine-wash on gentle cycle.

My FAVORITE laundry detergents are by the Laundress. Their scent is AMAZING and their quality ingredients help extend the life of your washables.

These detergents are highly concentrated so a little goes a long way. People who wear a lot of dark colors will LOVE the Darks Detergent. I use the Signature for everything else, and the Delicate Wash for silky fabrics.

*I’m also HUGE FAN of OXO Brite, bleach alternative, which I add to the wash for lightening and brightening.

STEP 4: DRY THE FACE MASK. Air-dry (I use one of these hanging drying racks below) OR in mesh laundry bag, place in dryer on low heat setting.

STEP 5: APPLY HEAT TO FURTHER SANITIZE AND TO REMOVE WRINKLES.

Iron on medium heat (a press cloth—just a thin piece of fabric placed on top of the mask—will protect the fabric from scorching or picking up marks from the iron) OR use a garment steamer.
